Psychological Therapy:
Psychological Therapy is an umbrella term used to describe the wide range of interconnected
therapeutic approaches now available within Psychology, Counselling, Psychotherapy
and Coaching. Each providing ways of exploring the psychological worlds we inhabit,
and of working with the problems and challenges that we face in life. As with most
things in life however, there is often no one specific right answer or single approach.
This is why modern hybrid forms of psychological therapy are becoming increasingly
integrated and multi-

My aim is to provide you with a safe supportive space where together we can talk and work through whatever problems or challenges you are experiencing. Initially therapy is about exploring your experiences, the nature of your thoughts, emotions and behaviour. Exploring what is important for you in your life and finding out about what gives your life meaning. Your dreams, fantasies and most cherished beliefs can be very insightful. There are no areas of life that are taboo in therapy, only possibilities for greater understanding and personal growth. The Coaching services that I provide focuses on developing, enhancing and maintaining your existing performance, abilities, strengths and skills. What aspects of yourself would you like to explore, challenge and develop? Is it time for you to seize the day and focus on enhancing your life?
As a Psychologist, Therapist and Coach, I am passionate about the exploration of
the human condition and the capabilities of the mind and body. One of the main focuses
of my work as a psychologist, therapist and coach, is facilitating a process of self
reflection. A process that clarifies our choices and responsibilities, both in relation
to ourselves, towards others, and the world. The therapy and coaching process can
help develop insight into our rational and emotional worlds. Therapy and coaching
can help clarify the meaning that we make of our lives, and can help identify those
aspects of ourselves that are not so beneficial and inhibit us from moving forward
in more positive and productive ways. Therapy and coaching also provides the opportunity
to identify and develop new resources, strengths and skills that are life enhancing
and life affirming. Whether you are an individual, couple, group, family, in business
or sport -
My training as a Psychologist provides a solid grounding in Cognitive Science and Neuroscience research. Building on my life experience, my practice and study of Counselling, Psychological therapy and Coaching, has, over the last fourteen years, allowed the development of a deep empathic understanding and attunement to the therapeutic needs of others. My study of philosophy has allowed me to develop a philosophically open nature, with an interest in issues of cultural diversity and evolving society. Philosophy has also helped develop a solid grounding in issues of human belief, morality and ethics. I am committed to treating all relationships with the utmost respect, providing psychological therapy that is confidential and based on BPS, BACP, UKCP and NCH codes of Ethics, Conduct and Best Practice.

Counselling, Psychological Therapy and Coaching represents an organic process that begins with our very first meeting and enriches over time. Research and experience shows that one of the main factors that makes therapy a success is the quality of the therapeutic relationship. This is why the most important aspect of our work together is often the exploration of the relationship we experience with ourselves, with others and the world around us. It is through this exploration that we begin to get a sense of the way we are each orientated within our lives and what this means for us.
Through my work as a Counselling Psychologist I have developed a deep appreciation
and respect for a wide range of interconnected therapeutic approaches to Counselling,
Psychological Therapy and Coaching. I consider my approach to be a synthesis of all
I have learned on my journey through life. My aim is to provide you with the most
effective therapy possible. I believe this is only achievable when client and therapist
are able to work dynamically and fluidly across theoretical boundaries, so that therapy
is tailored specifically to your individual needs. The main approaches I incorporate
within my practice include: Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Existential -
The therapy I provide may include helping you to develop deep relaxation techniques, help with establishing a reflective meditation practice, and help with embodying a positive state of mind together with developing your attention, focusing, and visualisation ability. I recommend booking a course of six sessions so that you are able to get a good sense of what you might gain from therapy or coaching and the development of a personal development program.
Emphasises the importance of unconscious / subconscious processes. This approach
aims at exploring deeper levels of what makes up personality -
Existential Psychotherapy and Phenomenology:
Developed as an alternative to early Psychoanalytic based approaches. This approach
is closely linked and informed by a very diverse philosophical history -
One of the defining qualities of Existential -
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT):
Has traditionally emphasised the importance of subconscious patterns of thinking and behaving that have negative effects on our emotional well being. CBT often takes a training / coaching approach that can systematically help you to face your fears and overcome anxiety, depression. Therapy can include the use of Computerised Biofeedback to help you to recognise the positive shifts you can begin to make in your patterns of thinking, emotions, behaviour and physiology. More recent developments in CBT have seen a rapid development that are moving this modality well beyond its original theoretical parameters, assumptions and limitations. CBT has now moved to incorporate research into the benefits of Buddhist ‘Mindfulness Meditation’, ‘Relaxation techniques’ and ‘Yoga’. All of which make excellent homework for anyone experiencing anxiety and depression. With over 25 years experience studying a wide range of internal arts, including Aikido, Tai Chi / Chi Gong and the practice of Shiatsu acupressure. My approach has the potential to add another dimension to your therapy. Excellent for exploring and integrating Mind and Body, being comfortably relaxed and putting the flow into your life.
Eye Movement, Desensitisation & Reprocessing (EMDR):
EMDR is a hybrid therapy system that has emerged from a number of therapeutic approaches
including Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Gestalt Psychology, Cognitive Behavioural
Therapy (CBT). EMDR is founded on cognitive science and neuroscience perspectives
about how the mind and body work together at the neurological / chemical -
Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT):
If you are interested in working with your emotions and mind from an energy fields
and body-
Hypnosis / Cognitive Hypnotherapy:
Hypnosis / Hypnotherapy provides another exciting way of working dynamically with
a wide range of issues, problems and self development needs. As well as being deeply
relaxing, hypnotherapy can help you to address the unconscious patterns of learnt
behaviour that are often blocks to progress in life. Hypnotherapy can also help you
to develop and build your personal strengths, resources and help you to achieve your
goals. Hypnotherapy like CBT and EMDR is founded on cognitive science and neuroscience
perspectives about how the mind and body work together at the neurological / chemical

The therapy that I provide is founded on evidence based practice. What this means, is that not only is my work founded on current cutting edge research, but that every person that I work with helps to inform my professional development, and builds on my previous experience. The very basis of psychological therapy, is that it is specifically tailored to my clients individual needs and requirements. Whether you just need to talk, or you are interested in exploring things much deeper, or want to experience a range of therapeutic possibilities, so that you can choose the therapy that fits you the best. One size of therapy does not always fit everyone. Therefore, the therapy that I provide is a process that is defined by an openness to adapt flexibly and develop creatively. In essence the therapy you receive has the potential of being an experience that is every bit as individual and unique as you are. What would you like to talk about or work on in your life?
My research interests include the exploration of experiential practices such as,
Relaxation, Meditation, Mindfulness, Focusing and Hypnosis. I am also interested
in exploring the psychological benefits of bodywork practices -
